Editorial policy
Coastal Policy Journal aims to make coastal policy easier to understand without overstating what is known. We value clear sourcing, careful distinctions and visible corrections.
Accuracy and context
We check factual statements against suitable source material and provide context for claims that could otherwise mislead. We distinguish established information, interpretation and uncertainty; when a subject depends on a particular place or jurisdiction, we say so rather than presenting one setting as universal.
Independence
Editorial decisions belong to the publication. A contributor, advertiser or partner does not receive control over conclusions or coverage in exchange for support. We consider potential conflicts and disclose relevant relationships where they could affect how readers understand a piece.
Corrections
If a material error is identified, we review it and correct the affected text. Where the change alters the meaning of a published article, we make the correction clear to readers rather than silently leaving a misleading account in place. Readers can report an error through the Contact page.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, commissioned or partner-supported material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary photographs or evidence.
