Coastal Policy Journal

About

Coastal Policy Journal is an independent English-language publication about public choices affecting shorelines and the communities around them. It is for readers who want to understand how coastal proposals are framed, what interests they bring together and how decisions move from idea to practice.

What we cover

We explain coastal policy through its settings and processes: public access, working waterfronts, shared resources, planning choices and the institutions that make decisions. We aim for durable context rather than a running account of every announcement.

Who it is for

Readers may live by the coast, visit it, work with coastal questions or simply want to follow how public decisions affect a place. You do not need specialist vocabulary to use the publication; unfamiliar terms should be explained when they matter.

How we approach it

We distinguish a proposal from a decision and a decision from its implementation. We describe trade-offs without pretending that one explanation settles them, and make clear when a question depends on local rules or circumstances.
